Pursuit Young Adults Retreat

A Retreat for Young Adults 18-30yrs

JUNE 10 - 12TH , 2022

Pursuit Young Adults Retreat is a retreat organized by Hope Community Church and Frontier Lodge Christian Youth Camp. Our desire is to bring post-secondary young adults from across the province together to experience God’s creation, His love, and a community of other people that are excited about pursuing a life identified in Christ.

Our weekend together at Frontier Lodge will include messages from an engaging speaker, powerful worship, thought-provoking seminars, and small group discussions. We’ll have a special Café space to gather around coffee or tea while spending time together and talking about life. There will be lots of opportunities to hang out by the waterfront and enjoy swimming, boating, and tubing or waterskiing. We’ll have organized group games, board games, and more!

Keynote Speaker - Jon Waind

Jon Waind and his family live on the West Island of Montreal.  He, his wife, Tonja, and their four kids love Frontier Lodge and the opportunities it provides them to grow in Christ and serve his church.

Jon holds a PhD in Religious Studies from McGill University. His main research and teaching interest is in the field of Christian social ethics. In particular, Jon is curious about the condition of vulnerability as it relates to various social issues today. Jon has taught at McGill and Concordia universities and the Laurentian Leadership Centre of Trinity Western University in Ottawa. This coming academic year he will be teaching in the Religious Studies Department at St. Francis Xavier University. Prior to pursuing higher education, he served as a youth minister in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.

The Waind family likes to do things together even if they don’t always like the exact same things. Their interests usually overlap on discussing theology, watching/playing basketball, biking, watching Psych (TV show) and renovating their home.

Worship Leader - Ryan Simunic

Ryan grew up going to Frontier and it has always had a special place in his heart. He lives in the West-Island of Montreal with his wife Lucie and wild puppy River.

Ryan is the Director of Worship at Westview Bible Church, and has been leading worship at churches, various christian events and camps for over 10 years. He’s passionate about helping people meet with Jesus, experiencing and receiving His life changing grace, and responding by giving Him the worship He is so worthy of.

Ryan loves deep discussions about life and theology. He loves books (and wishes he read more!), podcasts, coffee, ice-cream and spruce trees. He and Lucie love to go on adventures together with River and experience new places and things!

Seminar Speaker - Charlie Salamone

As a young Philosophy major, Charlie was once a zealous and outspoken opponent of Christianity. But after a dramatic conversion he himself became a follower of Jesus. He is now the Lead Pastor of Westview Bible Church in Montreal, where he lives with his wife and five children.

Rustic Cabin Accomadations

This weekend we’ll be camping out in rustic camp cabins! The girls will be staying in cabins on the east side of camp, and the boys will be staying on the west side of camp. Everyone must bring their own bedding and pillows. We recommend that everyone bring warm clothes for sleeping, and an extra blanket just in case. We’ll send you the weather forecast before the weekend to help you pack!

Bring Your Own Tent

If you’re feeling adventurous, why not bring a tent and sleep in the great outdoors? This would be a good option for married couples who would like to stay together over the weekend, or those who would just like a little more space to themselves. Please let us know in advance if you plan to bring a tent so we can prepare a spot for you!
